From Chapter 8: Lighting
So let’s look at the basic light types available in DAZ Studio and how they work. When a light is added to a scene you will have options to change the light color, intensity, type of shadows and the shadow softness which depends upon what you are trying to achieve in your scene.
Distant Spotlight Point light
Distant (Infinite) Light: This could be thought of as sunlight or moonlight as it comes from one direction and radiates in an infinite distance. Your only option with this light is to rotate it to point the light in the direction you want as it doesn’t have any position. Distant Lights will be added to your camera views so that you can view your scene through it so that you can set the direction of your “sun” or “moon”.

Spotlight: A spotlight is a cone of light with a spread angle; essentially if you know what a flashlight is, that’s how a spotlight works. It shines light in one direction from a specific point. You can translate and rotate these lights. You can also view through the Spotlight itself when placing the light. Multiple spotlights can be used in a scene as key light, fill, backlights and rims.
